We left Creative Beginnings back at the beginning of the year. I’ve waited awhile to write this review so that I could be certain I could calmly write a fair and accurate account of this organization.

If you read through the other reviews you will see there is a consistent theme of the director misrepresenting herself as a qualified professional who offers diagnoses and treatment plans for toddlers. In actuality, she is untrained, without knowledge and is as unpolished of a director as you could ever find. While each case has been different, ours was particularly traumatic. As she started her harassment of my son and myself she began insinuating he was verbally delayed. I allowed her to set up a speech assessment with a Speech Pathologist of HER choosing. I followed up with them and paid for the full testing and evaluation. Upon completion of the evaluation the Speech Pathologist said my son had absolutely no delays, actually scored higher than the test was designed to measure (based on his young age), no speech therapy was needed and any issues were likely due to boredom in the classroom. Next the director began telling me my son had ADHD and/or Sensory Processing Disorder and INSISTED I take my son to the pediatrician for a referral for therapy. I took my son to his doctor and his doctor was appalled that anyone would suggest a 2.5 year old would need to be evaluated for ADHD and he was certain we did not have a SPD issue. I asked for a referral to have someone experienced in these things assess my son because I was being bombarded with assertions from the day care director that I “just wasn’t seeing what they were seeing.” So next we visited a child behavioral therapist. She evaluated my son on two occasions in her office and told me she saw absolutely nothing to suggest ADHD or SPD. I asked the behavioral therapist to call and speak to Elissa, the director of Creative Beginnings, so that she could explain what they were seeing. The therapist called and was invited to the school to observe him. After the therapist went over to observe she called me immediately letting me know she had observed him and that again she was certain there were no issues whatsoever.
Approximately, two weeks after that the director pulled me aside to say that since “I could not get a diagnosis from the therapist they had made a decision that there was nothing further she could do for my son and they were dismissing for poor behavior.” Additionally, she accused me of telling my son that he would be observed and to behave. Hes 2.5 and fo any understand that reasoning and I didn’t know about the on-site evaluation until it was over as I was traveling for business. The main complaint was always that he didn’t want to stay in his center or would pick up and throw wood chips on the play ground. Completely normal behavior for a 2.5 year old according to pediatrician and therapist.

It has now been nearly 8 weeks and literally every single day my son begs for me not to take him back there and consistently says “they” were mean to him. I don’t have any idea what happened that last day (he was alone on the big kids play ground on the opposite side of the school, separated from his class and teachers, when I arrived) but apparently it was traumatic enough that 6 weeks later he still begs me not to take him back there.

My hope in writing this (and submitting it to DSS and the board) is that sharing our painful story will keep one other family from enduring the harassment and abuse we suffered at the hands of Creative Beginnings and Elissa Woodle. Additionally, I hope notifying DSS and the licensing board will bring awareness to what is really happening at the hands of Elissa and Maggie.

This center has helped my nephew in ways that I couldn't imagine. He is learning at a rapid pace and the teachers are very helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else!
